The Black Dog Ballroom loves Manchester
-
When we heard about the fantastic I Love MCR campaign from Marketing Manchester we knew exactly what we had to do to get involved and raise some money for Manchester charities – make a celebratory milkshake of course.
We got our heads together to discuss what food stuff is most symbolic of Manchester and came up with the ever popular Manchester Tart.
The milkshake team then got on to trying out flavours to find the best combination to most represent the fruity, coconuty delight. The key ingredients are jam, coconut, cherries and of course custard – which are quite tricky to get into one drink.
In particular desicated coconut was not so good and neither was custard – far too sweet so we opted for Coco Lopez to give the right flavour but a slightly more conventional texture!
The real bone of contention is banana or not? We decided not, what do you think? Come in and try one and let us know…
So the final recipe includes vanilla and strawberry ice cream, cherry bitters and Coco Lopez, garnished with Maraschino cherries and raspberries and each one will be served with a delicious slice of Manchester Tart.
The shake will be available exclusively on I love Manchester day (26th August) for £3.50, with 50p from each milkshake sold donated to Forever Manchester and RECLAIM.
