Wayne Collins rum masterclass


  • The people from Brugal Rum ably assisted by the BBC’s cocktail expert from Something For the Weekend; Wayne Collins, came to spread the word about Brugal Rum to bartenders and consumers alike in our private members’ ballroom.

    The bartenders tasted Brugal Anejo, Brugal Especial Blanco and Brugal 1888 and learned about the history and heritage of the number one rum in the Caribbean. Wayne passed on his expert skills to a selection of Manchester’s finest bartenders and they learnt to make a selection of cocktails with the rum. Expect to see a Pineapple Mojito and a Dr Flip being served to you soon!

    The consumers joined the rum fun later, where upon Wayne imparted his rum knowledge and answered burning questions such as ‘where the hell does the name rum come from?!’

    Lyndon Higginson from Manchester’s only Tiki Dive Bar & Caribbean Rum Shop, The Liars Club, hosted a killer pool competition after the tasting, which after everyone had drunk quite a bit of rum was, by all accounts, very entertaining!
